Police make arrest after three attacked with knife at Egham Station

A major police presence descended to Egham Station on Friday evening, following an assault that occurred at around 9PM on the 6th of February 2026.

A cordon was set up around the station and at the junction of Manorcroft Road and Wesley Drive, to allow police to investigate and collect evidence, and trains did not stop at Egham between 9PM and until just after 10AM on Saturday morning.

Surrey Police confirmed the assault, between two groups who they don’t have reason to believe were known to each other, left three people with knife injuries requiring hospital treatment, and a fourth person assaulted. None of the injuries are believed to be life threatening or life changing.

Surrey Police and the British Transport Police, working with paramedics, both attended the incident. The British Transport Police are leading the investigation.

Following a man-hunt that eyewitnesses told Insanity Radio involved a Police helicopter, the suspect, described as male, 5’6 and wearing a pink jumper, was arrested on suspicion of Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH). The man is believed to be in his 30s. It is believed two other people “made off” from the scene.

Royal Holloway University confirmed on Saturday morning that three of the victims are students of the university, releasing a statement reassuring the community that the incident was isolated.

“We’re aware of an incident at Egham train station last night where three of our students were injured. Police have arrested a suspect and have confirmed there is no ongoing threat.

“Our teams supported the students involved last night and are continuing to offer help. We understand you may feel worried –

“Our campus continues to be a safe environment, supported by dedicated security teams who are on duty 24/7 and contactable on 01784 443063.”

The President of Royal Holloway Men’s Rugby club shared a statement on Instagram confirming that the victims were in a stable condition in hospital.

“As many of you may already know, last night emergency services were called to an incident at Egham Station, involving a few members of our club

“We can confirm that all involved have been treated for their injuries, are in a stable condition and are now on the road to recovery. We thank you all for your kind words, thoughts and prayers

“A massive thank you to the police and ambulance personnel who arrived moments after finding out our location and cared for us in such an amazing manner.

“There has been a lot of misinformation about the events that actually took place, we kindly ask that you do not spread information that you don’t know to be absolutely true, to avoid the further spread of this misinformation.”

False news reports swirled on Friday evening, fueled by misinformation posted to the social media site X (formally Twitter) and articles that appear to be AI generated, incorrectly stating that the attacks had resulted in fatalities.

This was quickly dismissed by the police who provided an update confirming any injuries were non life threatening.

Surrey Police said:

“We are aware of false reports circulating online with regards to this incident, including posts using our image that suggest this information has come directly from Surrey Police.

“This is not the case and [members of the public should] always refer to a verified police force social media or website for any investigative updates.”

British Transport Police’s Detective Superintendent David Udomhiaye told the BBC: “We’re aware of concerns from the local community and, while this is of course an incredibly serious incident, I can confirm that thankfully no-one has been fatally injured.

“This is being treated as an isolated incident at the station involving two groups of people who we believe were not known to each other.”
